What happened to our love affair with nature? Camping caravans and being outside? It used to be all the rage not just in Suffolk but nationwide! 100 years ago the average Briton spent a large percentage of their waking hours outdoors. They walked or cycled to work, were more likely to have jobs involving exposure to the elements and their physical activity was conducted almost exclusively in the wind, sun, snow or rain. Look at us now, choosing a air conditioned gym rather than the great outdoors and a hotel rather than a campsite. There are all the facilities you need on a campsite and if you can gurantee the weather you would be sitting pretty. Still not every campsite is the same and some aren’t great I have to agree. Still given the choice of arguing with a concierge or swallowing the £7 a night for a tent pitch and moving on I know which I would prefer!
